What is a moisture analyser?

A moisture analyser is a device that can be used to measure moisture content.

They can be used across a variety of applications, to measure samples of many
different substances. Moisture analysers are used across a large array of different
industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals and construction, to chemical preparation
and food processing.

Chemicals and other mixtures can easily be compromised by too much or too little
moisture. Organic and synthetic products can also experience changes to strength, integrity, degradation and taste when too little, or too much moisture is present.

How to use a moisture analyser

Normally, a sample is placed into a drying chamber area - the chamber area itself
is set on a weighing plate. Enter the test parameters and then the key to start
the analysis.

Kern’s moisture analysers use a halogen quartz glass heater, which then provides
constant drying of the sample, at the temperature you have pre-selected,
within 1°C. The analysis of the moisture finishes at either a user specified time,
or when the drying is complete and the dry weigh is stable.

Midland Scales sells the Kern & Sohn range of moisture analysers, which offer
maximum sample weights of between 50 grams and 160 grams and
temperature ranges from 35 and 200°C.
